This chasing technique is a simpler approach to the traditional method of using pitch. Students will learn how to score the metal, fold it, shape it and then, using a malleable sculpting wax, chase back into the design using traditional chasing tools.
Beginners to Advanced will benefit from this class.
MATERIALS & TOOLS
Students are responsible for bringing the following:
- Your favorite hand tools (jeweler's saw and blades, hand files, ruler, pliers, etc.)
- 4x6" Sterling silver sheet, 24g
- Sterling silver flat/rectangular wire, 1 x 4mm
- Silver Wire Solder in Hard, Medium, Easy

- Chasing Hammer (Otto Frei Value Line)
- Cutting Disc (Dremel Cut-Off Wheel, Zoro)
- Sanding Stick/Cushioned Nail File in 80 grit (NailFileStore.com, sold in 50-pack)
- Sandpaper Sheets, 220 grit ( 3M No-Slip sheets: Zoro )
- Notebook and pencil
- Nitrile gloves and face protection (N95 mask, and eye protection)
