Adding dimension to your work can elevate it to a whole new level!

 

This chasing technique is a simpler approach to the traditional method of using pitch. Students will learn how to score the metal, fold it, shape it and then, using a malleable sculpting wax, chase back into the design using traditional chasing tools.


Beginners to Advanced will benefit from this class.

 

MATERIALS & TOOLS

Students are responsible for bringing the following:

  • Your favorite hand tools (jeweler's saw and blades, hand files, ruler, pliers, etc.)

 

  • 4x6" Sterling silver sheet, 24g
  • Sterling silver flat/rectangular wire, 1 x 4mm
  • Silver Wire Solder in Hard, Medium, Easy
  • Chasing tools: I recommend the Fabrizio Aquafresca basic set, bu this set from Amazon is perfectly suitable https://amzn.to/40tHUe2 
  • Chasing Hammer (Otto Frei Value Line)
  • Cutting Disc (Dremel Cut-Off Wheel, Zoro)
  • Sanding Stick/Cushioned Nail File in 80 grit (NailFileStore.com, sold in 50-pack)
  • Sandpaper Sheets, 220 grit ( 3M No-Slip sheets: Zoro )
  • Notebook and pencil
  • Nitrile gloves and face protection (N95 mask, and eye protection)
